Witches Coven Pillows from Call it Courtney.
It's the most wonderful time of the year.
The trees are shedding their clothes, the moon is clear on crisp fall nights and the countdown to Halloween has officially begun. I am just going to come out and admit it. I have an unholy love for All Hallows Eve. I look forward to October all year, it is the month that I read Poe, Hawthorne and watch Hocus Pocus twenty five times. And let's be honest, it is only out of consideration for puritanical social norms that I am not in a costume 40% of my waking hours.
Enter Courtney Snowden of Call it Courtney. I always love Courtney's creations, they are that little bit of whimsy that every house is simply lost without. With Halloween around the corner, Courtney has transformed herself into a weaver of witchcraft dreams. Her store is chock-a-block full of bits and pieces worthy of even the pickiest Halloweenophile. Each piece is the result of hours, weeks, days! worth of combing through estate sales, antique stores and thrift stores. I know, I know what you are thinking.
"Meg, this girl sounds awesome! How does she do it?"
I thought Courtney summed the whole thing up beautifully in the last email she sent me,
"I am a "hunter and gatherer" so most of the things I make have vintage elements incorporated into them. For instance, the pedestals that the crows are perched on are made from old tart tins and crystal candlestick holders that I picked up at an estate sale. The Haunted Houses are also perched on vintage glassware from the thrift store. Old bingo cards, book pages, dominoes and game pieces are also faves of mine. I have jars upon jars filled with "misfit toys" and "whozits and whatzits galore." I'm fully aware that I've got issues :)"
Are you in love with her yet? I know. Me, too.
Just a few of Courtney's handmade treats for the month of tricks.
