Meg at Home: Giveaway and Discount and Hope for the Stars, Oh My!

A couple of years ago I went on a walk with my dear friend, Heather. We talked about our kids, our hopes and the callings we feel in life. I remember stopping at a crosswalk and saying, so sheepishly, "I know this sounds grandiose, but I just really feel like I need to help women. I want to create things that make them feel less alone."

At the time, I was thinking of starting this blog and creating a space where we could all go to be honest, to laugh, to cry and to seek. In the past few years, while I am still sheepish about my big hope, I have seen some of its realization. This space has helped me, it has connected me to amazing women - intelligent, hurting, hoping, hard working, lovely living - women. I hope in some small way, I have helped them even a fraction of how much they have helped me. It has been a blessing.

Enter Latter Day Home.

Watch me on tv talking about latterday home! Also? At one point I say, "and then you won't have to talk to your kids about preschool for the 12th time that day." Because I am a stellar mom like that.

Latter Day Home is a company that understands good design is more than precisely placed furniture in glossy magazine spreads. They know that a beautiful home isn’t about perfectly swept corners or artfully draped throws that never actually get used. A beautiful home is laughter and dishes piled on kitchen counters after a good meal. It is homework on the coffee table and your kids creations taped to the wall. Worthwhile design doesn’t make you feel like you need to rearrange your life, worthwhile design complements the life you are already living. Every product is locally designed and handmade by local artisans. They create pieces that serve as tribute to the great and grand work you are doing within your four walls.

And a few months ago, they asked me to collaborate on a new home line with them. First, I blushed with excitement. And then I thought of that conversation I had on a busy street years ago. Another opportunity to create something that uplifts and gives good hope? Hell, yeah.

We've got two pillows out and we plan to follow up with more gifts and home decor. Each pillow is hand screened and then handmade by local artisans, many of which are moms just like me and so many of you. And today, because I want us all to be happy! I am having a giveaway and giving a discount. Because....we all need something a little lovely once in awhile. I hope that when you see that pillow sitting on your crumb strewn couch in the middle of your toy bombed living room that sounds like laughter and smells like the spaghetti you are making for dinner, you feel the beauty of your situation. I hope you know the goodness of your work. I hope you understand how grateful I am for the woman you are and the woman you are working to become. And I hope...oh I hope.

Matt Townsend Date Night Giveaway

Listen, you know I am pretty passionate about the whole making marriages better thing. From transparency my marriage has faced to encouraging everyone to just show a little tenderness, I do what I can. Here is the thing, I'm not an expert and once in awhile, no matter how good our marriages are, we can all use the happy advice of an expert.

Enter Dr. Matt Townsend, relationship expert extraordinaire.

I get to be a guest on his Sirius XM radio show every week and in the months I've worked with him, I've learned some important things about Matt. He has a way of talking about serious things in a way that makes you double over laughing, he truly cares about the people he helps and he is creative in his very applicable solutions and suggestions. Just last month he hosted a group of married people on a cruise through the Caribbean. He gave presentations and worked with each couple personally. It was a fantastic experience for everyone and let's just say that by the end of the cruise the bloom was back on all those roses.

This Friday is hosting a Valentine's Date Night. A brand new segment in his Date Night series, Friday's event will be all about keeping the magic alive in your marriage. With advice and ideas based on his latest research, Matt will have the crowd thinking, laughing and then (probably) pulling over to make out in the car their way home. This is the perfect Valentine's Day gift. It's time to put the bloom back on the rose and I am hap-hap-happy to make it happen for one lucky couple for free. (Yes, free!)

Afraid you won't win or want to cement those Valentine's plans RIGHT NOW? With the coupon code, Meg, you'll get 50% off per couple! That takes the price of a couple's ticket from $50 to $25! Amazing! And probably the cheapest, best Valentine's gift you ever did give.
